We’re decided to brave the dinosaurs to bring some of our photography courses to London.  See the website for details – we’re really looking forward to this, thanks to the borough of Bromley.  Crystal Palace has 200 acres, lakes, dinosaurs, sphynxes – what more do you want?

It’s a great location for photography, and handy for the city.  Free parking too.

Ghost photography at Chillingham Castle

On our holiday we visited (nay, stayed overnight in) the extremely creepy Chillingham castle in Nortumberland.  Even for sceptics like myself, it’s a very scary place.

It’s loomed large on TV’s Most Haunted – have a look for it on You Tube.  My pictures show the scratches on the inside of the dungeon door, and a few creepy things around the place.  The owner, Sir Humphry Wakefield, has a bat as part of his coat of arms, so naturally has a huge bat weathervane above the place._DSC6641_DSC6648

Oh and the picture is Chillingham’s Spanish Witch.  Eeek

Seeing The World Differently course at Sudeley Castle

DSC02362DSC02345Creative opportunities abound at Sudeley Castle …the sun was shining, fabulous photo-opportunities, DSC02329and a great lunch into the bargain!

It’s always a wonderful thing when people start to see the world anew. There is such a rich tapestry right under our noses…it’s really just a matter of keeping your eyes peeled for the unusual in the usual!

Here are some of Danny’s photo’s, which we think are fab. Great gear is not what great photography is about…Danny used a Sony compact camera! Being creative is about being brave, and tip-toeing out of your comfort-zone.

Shutter, Aperture and dog

Birmingham city centre has some great fountains which are always a good subject for shutter and aperture experiments on photography courses.

Here are a few shots at long and short shutter speeds – taken with a lowly Nikon D50 and 18-55mm kit lens. We don’t like to cheat by using professional kit when are students are struggling along with consumer equipment. Consumer equipment does just fine.DSC_7218DSC_7186DSC_7187

Wedding Photography Course at Sudeley Castle

Posted in Uncategorized on August 7th, 2009 by Phil and Rachel – Be the first to comment

We had a great time at Sudeley photographing in the grounds and in the chapel.  Our students were at the early stages of setting up their wedding photography business, and learnt a lot.  This is one of the pictures from the day – mocking up of a typical bride’s preparation picture.  Learning on the job is all very well, but photographing weddings is stressful even if you’re very experienced.  This course is intended to get the basics under your belt, so that when you have to do it for real you know what’s coming._DSC0905
